On April 28, 2008, the Board of Trustees of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County met and approved grant awards to a variety of community organizations in support of projects throughout the Muskegon region. Chris McGuigan, President of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County announced that on June 13, 2008 at 4:30 PM at the traffic circle at the corner of Third Street and Western Ave in Muskegon MI, the Richard Hunt sculpture, “Muskegon, Together Rising” will be unveiled. FAMILY RESOURC CENTERS FEDERAL GRANT. A nearly $6 million federal grant awarded to Muskegon Public Schools will expand "Family Resource Centers" that connect families with local agencies. The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative grant, submitted by Jane Drake, Community Coordinating Council Coordinator, will provide $1.43 million to the school district for each of the next four years. more...
