Featuring FOR THE LOVE OF CITIES

  Author  PETER KAGEYAMA

"I heard Peter speak about community development at a recent  national conference.  His message was so perfect for Muskegon, I thanked him, handed him my card, and had to keep myself from hugging him!"
 - Cindy Larsen, President of the Muskegon Area Chamber of Commerce

RSVP to Lurinda Montella at lmontella@cffmc.org
or (231) 722-4538

Read more about Peter Here.

Peter will share:

  • What makes cities loveable?
  • What motivates citizens to do extraordinary things for their places?
  • How do we fill in gaps when resources disappear.

Get Outside and Play!

The hope of warm weather and sunshine has us thinking about outdoor recreation – our gathering places, parks, beaches, and trails.  Arguably some of Muskegon’s greatest assets, most of these facilities have been touched by Foundation donors!  Be it funds for maintenance and upkeep through the Land Conservancy’s Meinert Park Endowment Fund, grants from our distribution committee to provide playground equipment at Holton Park, or gifts from our Donor Advised Fundholders to bring us the Olthoff Street Stage, Hilt’s Landing, or public art, our donors are ensuring Muskegon continues to provide great places to get outside and PLAY!

Area students stop to perform on the Olthoff Street Stage

Here are some of the places that have Foundation Funds designated for them:

Hilt’s Landing
Michigan Heritage Trail
Monet Garden
Veterans Memorial Park
Land Conservancy for Meinert Park
Lake Harbor Park Preservation
Rotary Park
Pere Marquette Park
McGraft Park
Root Memorial Park
McLaughlin Pocket Park
Muskegon Parks Fund
Hackley Heritage (Monument at Hackley Park)
Winter Sports Complex

Under 50? It's Your Turn

We’re excited to introduce – in honor of our 50th – an incentive for those who are younger than we are: the Next Generation Donor Advised Fund!  If you’re 50 or under, this year you can start a DAF of your own for $5,000…50% off the normal fund minimum.
If you're charitably inclined and civic-minded, this "giving account" is a great vehicle for you.  In addition to streamlining your record-keeping, it builds sustainability into your giving as the fund grows over time. Plus, you add the Foundation as a resource:  we keep you informed about community needs and provide opportunities to combine with others' resources to create a greater impact.  Still need convincing?  Here are a few more reasons!

Help us spread the word to the Next Generation of people who are moving Muskegon County forward. Questions?  Contact Bob Chapla, Heidi Sytsema, or Janelle Mair.
