50 YEARS OF PURPOSE

Celebrating 50 years of Purpose:

The Community Foundation for Muskegon County was created in 1961, by Muskegon attorney Stephen H. Clink. In 2011, we’re celebrating 50 years of purposeful giving by thousands of generous people, purposeful grantmaking that improves the quality of life in Muskegon County, and purposeful community leadership that will take us into the next 50.

Throughout the half-century, throughout the county, people have realized that the Community Foundation is an instrument they can use to build the world they want to live in.  We are the community’s foundation…we join you in building the community we aspire to be!

Under 50?  It's Your Turn!

We’re excited to introduce – in honor of our 50th – an incentive for those who are younger than we are: the Next Generation Donor Advised Fund!  If you’re 50 or under, this year you can start a DAF of your own for $5,000…50% off the normal fund minimum.

If you're charitably inclined and civic-minded, this "giving account" is a great vehicle for you.  In addition to streamlining your record-keeping, it builds sustainability into your giving as the fund grows over time. Plus, you add the Foundation as a resource:  we keep you informed about community needs and provide opportunities to combine with others' resources to create a greater impact.  Still need convincing?  Here are a few more reasons!

Help us spread the word to the Next Generation of people who are moving Muskegon County forward. Questions?  Contact Bob ChaplaHeidi Sytsema, or Janelle Mair.

History of the Foundation

altWe've put together a photo history book celebrating the people and events that have brought the Foundation this far.  Stop into our office if you'd like to see it, and contact Lurinda at 231-722-4538 if you'd like to order a copy of your own for $35.
