Please Call us Before You Begin Your Grant Proposal
We encourage you to contact the Community Foundation to discuss your organization and any project or need you may have. We will be glad to give you details on the grantmaking process and connect you with the information needed to submit a proposal. In general the foundation accepts one application per organization per funding cycle. To learn more about our funding areas of interest click here.

Grant requests are welcome from organizations in Muskegon, Oceana & Mason Counties that are recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service.

Applications are accepted on specific dates each year. Upcoming deadlines by service area are:

Muskegon - August 24, 2007, February 15, 2008

Mason & Oceana - September 28, 2007, March 31, 2008

We encourage you to call and talk with a member of our Program staff before you prepare and submit a proposal. All proposals are accepted via our online grant application process, Community Investment. For more information on Community Investment, click here.

Foundation staff and volunteers on our Grant Review Committees carefully review all applications. The Board of Trustees makes all final funding decisions.

The Community Foundation generally will not fund:

  • Routine operating expenses
  • Capital equipment, computer hardware, software and motor vehicles
  • Conferences, camps, publications, videos, films, television or radio programs
  • Conference speakers
  • Special events and endowment campaigns
  • Individual schools or districts
  • Religious programs that serve, or appear to serve specific religious denominations
